We’ve got an incredible destination in mind for our next journey! Have you ever dreamed of visiting a crystal-clear lake tucked away in the Swiss Alps?
Today, we're heading to Lake Oeschinensee, a hidden gem that’s perfect for nature lovers. Let’s dive into this picturesque paradise and explore the magic together!
Lake Oeschinensee, located near Kandersteg in Switzerland, is a pristine alpine lake surrounded by towering snow-capped peaks. We were blown away by the deep turquoise waters, which are fed by mountain glaciers. It felt like stepping into a postcard! The best part? After a short cable car ride from Kandersteg, we were able to take a leisurely hike through pine forests to reach the lake. Trust us, the view when you first lay eyes on the lake is worth every step!
If you're planning a visit, the Oeschinensee cable car operates from 9 AM to 5 PM, with round-trip tickets costing around 22 CHF for adults. You can also hike directly from the town if you want more of an adventure, but the cable car adds a fun element to the journey.
One of the coolest activities we tried at Lake Oeschinensee was rowing a boat on the lake’s calm waters. It was so peaceful to glide across the lake while admiring the surrounding mountain scenery. The boat rental is quite affordable at 29 CHF per hour, and it’s a fantastic way to soak in the tranquility of the area. Plus, it’s an opportunity to connect with nature in a way that feels like a personal retreat. Just imagine the gentle breeze and the sound of water gently splashing against the oars. It’s magical!
If you’re visiting in the summer months, this activity is available daily between 10 AM and 5 PM. And for those of you who love swimming, we’ve got good news – the lake is perfect for a refreshing dip, though the water is pretty chilly even in summer!
For those of you seeking a bit of an adrenaline rush, we highly recommend checking out the summer toboggan run near Oeschinensee! The alpine coaster ride is an absolute blast. We zoomed down the mountain, weaving through the lush green hills with sweeping views of the lake. It’s one of those experiences where the thrill and the views combine to create unforgettable memories.
The coaster is open from 10 AM to 4:30 PM, and a single ride costs 6 CHF per person. Don’t worry, even if you're not into fast rides, it's a smooth glide that’s suitable for all ages, and the views alone are worth the try!
To make the most of your trip to Lake Oeschinensee, here are a few tips we picked up. First, make sure to wear comfortable hiking shoes because even though the paths are well-maintained, they can get a bit rocky in some places. Don’t forget to pack snacks and water if you’re planning to spend a long day exploring – there are a couple of restaurants near the lake, but we found having our own supplies made the experience more flexible.
Lastly, we recommend visiting between June and September when the weather is warm, and all the activities are open. In winter, Oeschinensee becomes a fantastic spot for skiing and ice fishing, so there's something for everyone year-round.
Let us know, Lykkers, would you love to paddle on this serene lake or zoom down the alpine coaster? Let’s keep the adventure going together!
